Coeur d'Alene Marathon in Beautiful Northern Idaho

37th ANNUAL COEUR D’ALENE MARATHON at McEuen Park: New Course, Scenic Views & Boston Qualifier

The Coeur d'Alene Marathon, Half Marathon, and MyHealth 5k fun run offers one of the most spectacular events in the country. At an elevation of 2200 feet above sea level, the resort community of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, resting on the shores of spectacular Lake Coeur d'Alene, welcomes visitors to a plethora of vacation and recreational activities. The welcoming community and natural beauty have drawn events such as the Ironman USA Triathlon Coeur d'Alene, held here each year in June.

This years Coeur d'Alene Marathon has some exciting changes and announcements!

The North Idaho Centennial Trail Foundation is excited to announce the 37th annual Coeur d’Alene Marathon at McEuen Park to be held on Sunday, May 25. Also taking place will be the 23rd annual Half-Marathon and MyHealth5K fun run.

New for 2014, the marathon, half-marathon and 5k will start and finish at the newly renovated McEuen Park on Front Street in beautiful downtown Coeur d’Alene. NICTF developed a course that highlights the best of what Coeur d’Alene has to offer, including downtown Coeur d’Alene, the Sanders Beach neighborhood and the Coeur d’Alene Parkway along the shores of Lake Coeur d’Alene.

The new courses are spectator - friendly with convenient parking downtown. NICTF worked with local runners and government agencies to develop a route that is fun, yet challenging, with maximum views of the lake. Marathoners and half-marathoners will depart from McEuen Park, running downtown east to Higgens Point on the Coeur d’Alene Parkway before returning through the Sanders Beach neighborhood. Marathoners will complete two laps, and half-marathoners will run one. The 5k fun run course will run through the Sanders Beach neighborhood.

Race director Charlie Miller added “It makes a lot of sense to have the race start and finish at the new park- we have all the amenities we need, such as parking, food, lake views, hotel accommodations, and of course the Centennial Trail.”

The Foundation has operated the Coeur d'Alene Marathon since 2005 and relies on the marathon as its major fundraiser. "We're very fortunate to have a premier event like this. Every dollar the race earns goes right back to into our organization. It gives our foundation a greater ability to carry out our mission to preserve and develop the North Idaho Centennial Trail System," said Miller.

Packet pick-up and late registration will be held on Saturday, May 24 at the Coeur d’Alene Resort. In addition to packet pick-up there will be an expo offering vendors food, beer garden, live music, activities for kids and great raffle prizes from local vendors.

The gun goes off at 7:00 am, Sunday, May 25 for the full marathon at McEuen Park.
