The Woman In Black Play by Company of Fools in Hailey

Prepare yourself for a night of ghoulish theater that just might scare you out of your wits! The acclaimed play The Woman in Black combines the power and intensity of live theater with the eerie and dark qualities inspired by the world of film noir cinema.

This play gives audiences an evening of unremitting, spine-tingling drama as they are transported into a terrifying world of specters. Each performance will be limited to 48 audience members, as the action takes place throughout the theater while the audience is seated on the stage.

Based on Susan Hill's 1983 horror fiction novel about a menacing ghost that haunts a small English town, The Woman in Black was adapted for the stage by Stephen Malatratt. First performed in the UK in 1987, more than 7 million people have flocked to experience one of the most exciting, gripping and successful theater events ever staged.

John Glenn will direct Company of Fools' production, which features Scott Creighton and Neil Brookshire. The Woman in Black began its run on October 17 and will continue until November 3 at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey... but it will haunt you long after the lights come up!

Storyline of The Woman In Black

The story begins with a lawyer obsessed over a curse he believes was cast over him and his family by the specter of a 'Woman in Black'. He engages a young actor to help him tell his story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul. It begins innocently enough, but as they reach further into his darkest memories, they find themselves caught up in a world of eerie marshes and moaning winds. The borders between make-believe and reality begin to blur in ways that make the flesh creep.

Cherish the Ladies: Irish Folk Music and More

Taking their name from a traditional Irish jig, the group initially began in 1985 with a series of concerts celebrating the rise of female musicians in the once male-dominated Irish music scene. Cherish the Ladies initially won recognition as the first all-women traditional music and dance ensemble, but soon they established themselves as musicians and performers in their own right and have since earned many thousands of fans.

In recent years, the group toured all over North and South America, the United Kingdom and Europe, China, Australia and New Zealand performing in the finest concert halls and at international festivals. They are equally at home in at the symphony orchestra, a performing arts center or a folk festival.

Are you a Joanie Madden fan?

Do you love Cherish the Ladies? Under the leadership of the dynamic and irrepressible Joanie Madden on flutes and whistles, they have grown from a one-time concert concept to an Irish traditional music sensation. What songs do you like the most? Have you seen them perform somewhere else? We want to hear from you!

Bill Allred's Classic Jazz Band: In late 1989, Bill Allred’s Classic Jazz Band was born with the mission to find, research, and play some of the almost forgotten arrangements of the early jazz bands. What an exciting project! Their new sounds and combinations result in some very unusual treatments of old and new jazz material. This band is full of talented players with rich musical histories, including the leader Bill, whose father played jazz on the Mississippi steamboats.

Big Bang Jazz Band: Incorporating elements from early New Orleans jazz, Dixieland and the hot music of the ’20s and ’30s, variety is the name of the game for these young and highly energetic musicians. The band is adept at playing both sweet and steamy tunes. The Big Bang Jazz Band makes everybody excited about Dixieland jazz.
